Fitness Myths: Stretching Is a Waste of Time

3 min read

Myth: You cannot drink water during workouts.

Ekaterina Ivanova will help you understand this question.

Answer: Physical activity of any intensity involves varying degrees and speeds of fluid and electrolyte loss (blood thickening leads to overload of the cardiovascular system, disruption of physiological solution concentrations and biological processes, and impaired electrical activity of the heart and nervous system).

One of the serious signs of critically reduced fluid levels is thirst, so water replenishment should prevent the feeling of thirst. For this reason, it is recommended to drink water regularly, and during intense and prolonged workouts, consume water-electrolyte drinks in small sips every 10-15 minutes of training.
