Fitness Myths: You Shouldn't Drink Water During Exercise

Answer: Physical activity of any intensity involves different volumes and rates of fluid and electrolyte loss (blood thickening leads to overload of the cardiovascular system, disruption of physiological solutions and bioprocesses, and disruption of electrical activity of the heart and nervous system). One of the serious signals of critical fluid reduction is thirst, therefore water replenishment should prevent the feeling of thirst. In this regard, it is recommended to regularly consume drinking water, and during intense and prolonged activities, water-electrolyte drinks, taking a few sips every 10-15 minutes of training.
